Dealing with Coronavirus

                    Updated March 7th
I respect anyone's decision to take care of their health in whatever ways they believe is best.
At this point, the risk of catching COVID-19 at Ecstatic Dance Corvallis is extremely low. There are still only 3 cases identified in the whole state. Neither the city, county, or state are advising people to limit public events yet. If/When there is an advisory to limit public events in Benton County, I will put Ecstatic Dance on hold as long as needed. In the meantime, I suggest you come dance as much as possible! <3

There are a lot of theories and conflicting information circulating about Coronavirus (COVID-19). At this point it's impossible to know what's going to happen and how we'll all need to respond and adjust our lives. I am monitoring the situation daily, both with Benton County Health Services and other reliable sources. Here's how I'm holding it for weekly Ecstatic Dance Corvallis, at least for now:
It's not helpful to panic or fear-monger; it is helpful to slow down the spread of infection to keep our medical system from being overwhelmed and to keep immune-compromised individuals as safe as possible. We are currently holding all of our dance events, though that could change quickly if there's a local outbreak.
In any case, it makes sense to habitually use best practices for hygiene, whether dealing with COVID-19 or the range of flu and cold viruses already circulating these days:
  • Wash your hands often, soaping up for at least 20 seconds (and always after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.)
  • Don't attend Ecstatic Dance if you are feeling sick, and for at least 24 hours until after your fever goes away.
  • Cover every cough and sneeze with your elbow or a tissue to avoid spreading droplets.
  • Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. We plan to have hand sanitizer available at Ecstatic Dance.
  • Be proactive and boost your immune system: healthy eating, plenty of rest, and manage stress. If you're not sure how to boost your immune system, consult with your medical doctor, naturopath, acupuncturist, etc.
  • Personal contact? Always pause and get/give consent before going in for a hug or handshake.

Thanks, as always, for your understanding and support.
