Gratitude Dance! November 25th, 2021
Join us for a benefit dance on Thanksgiving morning to celebrate community and offer gratitude! Ecstatic Dance is our weekly practice of movement meditation, using Global Bass music to drop out of out thinking-judging minds and into our feeling bodies.
Baron von Spirit will weave together the dance journey! Opening with flowing warm-up music, steadily increasing in tempo & intensity to reach peaks of ecstasy, and gliding down into meditative, heart-centered stillness.
The Details:
Odd Fellows Hall, 223 SW 2nd St, Corvallis
Please bring a full water bottle to stay hydrated. (The water fountain at Odd Fellows Hall is closed off for covid safety.)
10:30am: Downtempo music for arrival, stretching, and warm-up
10:55am: Brief welcome and invocation
11am-12:30pm: Main DJ set
12:30-12:45pm: Singing Bowls Meditation and Closing Circle
Special Event Pricing:
**$5–20 sliding scale for everyone, plus a non-perishable food item**
• Payment is by cash or Venmo at the door
• All food items will be donated to South Corvallis Food Bank
• 50% of all event proceeds will be donated to Corvallis Housing First (The other 50% of proceeds will help cover rent and other operating costs.)
**Covid Safety**
• Stay home if you have any symptoms or have had any covid contact within the past two weeks.
• Masks are required for everyone. A proper mask stays well-sealed around the nose and mouth. No gaiters, bandanas, or face shields. We have extra masks for you at the door.
• As for social distancing: consent is required to enter anyone's immediate breathing space (one arm's length), whether for a hug, a contact dance, or simply dancing in proximity. High flying contact, wild dancing, and/or darting across the dance floor tend to breach that consent, so you need to be particularly conscientious if your dance tends towards any of those styles.
• We encourage and support 6' social distancing. You are welcome to borrow swirly red silicone wrist bracelets at the door, which are used to signal that you do not want to be approached and are actively holding 6' of social distance around you.
• We have extensive ventilation, with ceiling fans, open windows, window fans, and open doors in the Main Ballroom.
• We have hand sanitizer available at the door.
Children are always welcome to Ecstatic Dance, and they are expected to follow the same guidelines as adults.
• Please only bring children who want to dance and be with you on the dance floor. We’re not comfortable with kids hanging out at Odd Fellows with phone/tablet screens/video games.
• Children 5 and over must wear a proper covid mask the whole time.
• Help your child(ren) refrain from talking on the dance floor.
• Keep your child(ren) close to you at all times to help maintain social distance on the dance floor for covid safety.
